Tropical Storm Hermine

Peter left Rhode Island on August 31 at 3:30 am to bring our car back to Florida. He arrived at 2:30 am Thursday morning to the beginnings of Hermine, a category 1 hurricane which was headed toward Florida. Thank goodness it's impact in Poinciana was mostly a rain event. Now it is headed up the mid Atlantic coastline and predicted to stall south of New England. There are tropical storm warnings for the coast lines of NJ, NYC, and CT. This is what the East Greenwich Yacht Club sent to all its members.

Not to panic but....
NOAA 5 day forecast

So Jane, being alone on the boat started preparations. Our friends Bill & Linda came from Ashland to prepare their boat and came to help Jane. She was mostly worried about the mooring lines chafing on the anchor so Bill removed the Danforth from the chain and pulled the CQR over the bow pulpit and into the anchor locker. Voila! No anchor to chafe the lines.

Jane continued to prepare by securing the dinghy with lots of lines, moving everything off the decks that could blow around, and removing the dodger and side curtains. The only task left for today is to fully charge, empty the fridge, close thru hulls, and move off the boat to Sarah's house for the next 2-3 days.  Hopefully Peter's flight gets into Providence Monday morning.

Dinghy secured

Side curtains removed
Dodger next to be removed

Even the grill is removed from the railing
Equipment covered
Everything put away

Our lovely forward cabin is now storage
for all the deck equipment.
