Launch, Sea Trial, Move Aboard

Wednesday, May 4, 2016

She's launched!
Journey's End Marina launched Kinvara II by 1:30 and it was commissioned that afternoon. The only hiccup occurred with the starboard engine solenoid. They ordered a new one and installed it on Thursday. As soon as the marina crew left on Wednesday we started moving things aboard. Jane emptied the car with smaller bags that could easily be carried down the steep ramp at low tide. Thursday morning we emptied the u haul trailer. The 9.5' tide was high and we could use the dock box to get heavy boxes to the boat. Unfortunately with all the rain we had for the last week travelling North and sitting in Maine we had a small leak in the trailer. Jane's suitcase was damp with some clothes needing drying and Peter's briefcase with all our paper files was soaked. We had papers everywhere drying out.
Papers everywhere.

Our sea trial was scheduled for Friday, May 6. We started getting things ready around noontime. It turned out to be a fabulous day with the sun shining, the seas calm, and the boat working as expected. It was nice to be out on the water again.

We had 6 people aboard for the sea trial.

Leaving our dock

A little celebration after our sea trial!
