Fourth of July 2016

Our girls talked us into going to Newport for the 4th of July celebration. On Tuesday, June 28, we dropped the ball and headed for Third Beach with our friends the Daleys travelling south on the Sakonnet River. Passing under the bridge and narrows against the tide made for some interesting maneuvering and a power up on our boat.

Notice the narrow passage through
the 2 markers!

Approaching the Mt Hope Bridge
Love this lighthouse!

Both boats picked up a town mooring and decided to share appetizers and dinner. It was Peter's birthday so a celebration was in order. The next morning we left for Newport while the Daleys stayed to meet other friends joining them for the night.

We arrived in Newport by mid morning and picked up town mooring #2, just off the tip of Goat Island......our home for the next 6 days.
